Mahomes v Brady: The 10 Year Impact

The League Winners, Fantasy Football, Sunday Night Football Recap

This Super Bowl will be career defining not only for Patrick Mahomes, but for Tom Brady as well. We know what Tom has done throughout his career, but ever since Mahomes stepped foot onto the NFL turf things seemed to change. Brady can put an even greater lead on his status as the GOAT, while Mahomes can add a legendary win to his early career accolades.

This is going to be an amazing game, as we get to see two of the best ever battle it out on the biggest stage. The Kansas City Chiefs carry their high powered offense into Tampa Bay, looking to repeat the same historic numbers they did in Week 13. Kansas City looks to repeat as Super Bowl Champions, something that hasn’t been done since the Patriots in 2004.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ secondary has its work cut out for them, as last time they saw Tyreek Hill put up over 200 yards in the 1st quarter. While I don’t expect Tyreek to repeat these numbers, it’s going to require Carlton Davis and company to step up and make the necessary plays.

We know Tampa can create pressure, and it’ll be a key thing to watch as the game progresses. If Tampa can keep the clock running and continue to rush the quarterback, it favors Tampa more then getting into a shootout with the likes of Patrick Mahomes.

Tyrann Mathieu is going to have to lead this defense into stopping all of the Buccaneers’ weapons. Rob Gronkowski tallied over 100 yards back in Week 13, and with his chemistry with Tom Brady it’ll be interesting to see how much he’s targeted in this game. Kansas City cannot allow these receivers space, and must play close tight coverage.

We are also going to see guys like Antonio Brown, Mecole Hardman, Le’Veon Bell, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. These guys should play a significant role. This game has a bigger impact then just one Super Bowl. This game has legacy defining stipulations and will be one for the ages.

Patrick Mahomes is chasing that GOAT status. He’s been a fireball since first starting in 2018. He absolutely needs this win over Tom Brady if he ever wants to win that GOAT title. While Mahomes has shown us arm strength and legs that we have never seen from Brady, Brady has time and time again defied the odds to win. If Brady at 43 can figure out a way to beat Mahomes at 25, it’ll be really hard for Mahomes to ever say he’s the GOAT.

We also see careers of Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown who have had roller coaster trajectories for the past two years. Showing they can provide significant value to a contending team should help them in offseason discussions, as they’ll look for either an extension or a new contract.

This Super Bowl is going to be fun, and while we get to see some of the best talent in a long time, it’s important to note that KC is down their starting left tackle Eric Fisher. Losing a post up tackle just one game away from the Super Bowl hurts, and it’ll be key to see how the Chiefs adjust.

I think this will be a close, high scoring game. Tom Brady isn’t going to go down without swinging, and at the first sign of defensive liabilities, it wouldn’t shock fame if Brady and Arians started showing us that air raid offense we’ve known to love from Arians.

I have the Chiefs beating the Buccaneers 41-37, with Patrick Mahomes winning Super Bowl MVP! As always let me know your thoughts, enjoy the big game!
