Do you want to know a quick, easy way to continue being a poverty franchise? It’s going 1-15, then following that horrendous season by spending a 1st round pick in the NFL Draft on a luxury.
Urban Meyer really doesn’t care. He’s got two shiny new toys to play with in a depleted team. You had the opportunity, the need, to pick number 1 overall; and yet you addressed what happens to be your one good positions in the first round of the NFL Draft. You’ve set the timeline back a year, you’ve reversed the clock, and my prayers are with Trevor Lawrence and his 4-13 season he’s doomed for.
You were on the clock with a lot of playmakers left on the board who could’ve instantly started day one, and you missed. You passed. You wanted to pair your shiny new car with shiny new wheels instead of putting gas in the car.
Jacksonville, I’m sorry. This was your night. You had Trevor Lawrence with his bags packed heading for Florida. When Roger Goodell was walking towards that stage for the second pick, there were butterflies dancing in my stomach. I said “this is it, this is how Jacksonville returns to glory“, and then boom; down quickly.
“With the 25th pick in the NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select, Travis Etienne, RB Clemson.”
Not only did my hat fly off my head, my heart sunk into my chest. I thought to myself “wow, and they stay on course as a poverty franchise.”
Not only am I upset for my James Robinson shares, I’m upset that Trevor Lawrence is going to have to score 40 points a game to win. I’m upset that they didn’t address their glaring needs. I’m upset that Trevor is going to have to struggle to win, when he shouldn’t.
This was just a bad pick. I’m not a cookie cutter kind of person. It’s bad for the Jags, bad for Robinson shareholders, bad for Travis Etienne truthers. It’s just bad. I hope Jacksonville hits on the 33rd pick in the NFL Draft, and start to build a core that would actually suffice for Lawrence. Because if not, we might witness one of the greatest waste of talents ever. Get it right Jacksonville, we’ll be seeing you back in the top 10 next year.
