NFL Fantasy Football 2023: Impact Injury Report – Week 1

The League Winners, Fantasy Football, Impact Injury Report - Week 1

With the start of the NFL season, find out who’s on the impact injury report in Week 1.

There are many things that can affect fantasy football lineups, but injuries are a big area of concern. Becoming a fantasy football league winner is all about how you adjust to the injury report regarding players on your roster. So let’s take a look at the Impact Injury Report – Week 1.

Note: This week’s injury report will focus on players that will likely not suit up for their respective teams in Week 1 of the regular season.

Jeff Wilson Jr. (RB) – Miami Dolphins

Jeff Wilson Jr. is dealing with multiple injuries and was placed on the IR, so he will miss at least the first four games of the season.

Head coach Mike McDaniel had the following to say regarding Wilson’s injuries (per ESPN):

“It’s a midsection injury compounded by some finger issues,” he said. “We made the assessment he couldn’t protect himself and couldn’t be himself the way we know him to be. I wouldn’t be surprised if he would make a return this season. We will let his body tell us.”

The Dolphins‘ backfield is banged up at the moment, as rookie running back De’Von Achane is also dealing with a shoulder injury. The ‘Phins also have Raheem Mostert, who is not dealing with an injury at the moment, but does have an extensive injury history in the NFL.

With many drafts already over, the best thing to do from a fantasy football perspective is to stash Wilson on the IR and find a replacement.

Fantasy Impact: Medium

Kyler Murray (QB) – Arizona Cardinals

Kyler Murray is still recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered last season. As a result, he is currently on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Despite his injury designation and the fact that he will miss at least the first four games of the season, Murray is still being drafted in the mid-to-late rounds of drafts.

How should you handle your roster if you were counting on Murray starting in Week 1? Hope that you drafted a quarterback that can do enough to give you a fighting chance to win until Murray comes back, whenever that may be.

Fantasy Impact: Medium-high

Jonathan Taylor (RB) – Indianapolis Colts

Like Murray, Jonathan Taylor finds himself on the PUP list to start the season. This is the weirdest scenario of them all so far this preseason. Taylor requested a trade and, ultimately, neither he nor the Colts found a trade partner. Taylor is not happy with his contract. He is also dealing with some injuries that have led to the PUP designation.

Taylor is going all over the draft board, from Round 1 to Round 8. Nobody knows how to handle Taylor’s situation at this very moment, including the Colts. However, he will be a bell cow once he returns to action, hopefully by Week 5.

Fantasy Impact: High

Cooper Kupp (WR) – Los Angeles Rams

Much like Taylor, Cooper Kupp managers are frustrated with the wide receiver’s hamstring injury. It will cost him at least one week of the regular season, and possibly more. Yet Kupp is still going in the first round in the majority of redraft fantasy drafts.

The most concerned party here is actually Kupp, as he is going to see a specialist to determine the extent of his hamstring injury. This comes after the receiver suffered a setback that will likely cost him the start in Week 1.

Fantasy Impact: High
