On Monday, we were robbed of a fun and great team. All it took was 75 seconds to ruin a season. NFL fans and New York Jets fans had such high hopes for this team, and now it is all gone. Aaron Rodgers went down on his first drive and now his season is over. How does that affect the Jets’ fantasy options?
The Biggest Loser: Garrett Wilson
The whole offseason everyone was talking about the possibility of Wilson making a push to be a Top-5 WR due to the acquisition of Aaron Rodgers. All of that is gone now, and the elite fantasy WR drops to a mid-range WR2. It’s unfortunate that he had all of the hype leading into the season, just for it to end that quickly. Now, what do you do with Garrett Wilson? Hold him. You will not get the value you want for him right now. Hope and pray that the Jets can find a better option than Zach Wilson.
The Only Winner: Breece Hall
What we saw from Breece Hall on Monday night was amazing. You can tell that Hall still was not 100% yet, but you saw the big plays. Hall broke off a 26-yard run on his first carry of the season and later ripped off an 83-yard run. He looked fantastic and missed out on a touchdown because Garrett Wilson was celebrating instead of blocking.
This is a TD if Garrett Wilson blocks instead of celebrating!

Hall is looking like a league winner if you took the risk on him. Now, what to do with Breece Hall? Hold him and let him win you championships.
Aaron Rodgers Injury – The After Effect
Not only does the injury to Rodgers hurt the players who drafted Wilson, but anyone who had the Jets in the Super Bowl is quite mad too. The Jets generated all of the hype throughout the offseason, and it is truly disheartening that this excitement was gone so quickly. As of right now, Zach Wilson is the starting quarterback, and unfortunately we have to watch him play. Hopefully, Rodgers can return from this next season and show us how good this offense can really be.
With the Jets losing Aaron Rodgers for the remainder of the season. Will they stick with Zach Wilson to be their quarterback for this season? Some of the top free-agent quarterbacks who have been linked to the Jets so far are: Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan, and Joe Flacco. That is not a list you would want to see when it comes down to fantasy football. Let me tell you how that would affect the most important piece of that offense, Garrett Wilson.
Carson Wentz
We’ll first talk about Carson Wentz. At one point in his career, he was a frontrunner in MVP voting. Things have changed quite a bit for Wentz since that time. What would it look like if the Jets were to sign Wentz? You may feel better if you have Garrett Wilson.
In 2021, Wentz threw for 3,563 yards, with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. To be honest, the Jets do not need a superstar QB to get this team far. Wentz is the perfect quarterback to just throw in for the rest of the season. He won’t do anything crazy, but he is good enough to get this team some wins and give us some breathing room to keep or trade Garrett Wilson.
Matt Ryan
The second option the Jets can consider is Matt Ryan. If you thought it was ugly with Wentz, wait till you hear this one.
I think it is safe to say that Matt Ryan is far from his prime and should retire. He had a great career, but now he is just simply not his old self. This move would be interesting for the Jets. He can be a guy who can go in there and manage the game but may make lots of interesting mistakes in the process. As a Colts fan, this would not be the best choice for the Jets. I witnessed what Matt Ryan did for us and that was not a fun time. What would this do for Garrett Wilson? It would not be that bad for him. We saw what he did with Pittman and that was just to feed him targets. Ryan may feed Wilson targets, but most of the time it will not end up in touchdowns, unfortunately. This would not be the worst thing to happen if you roster Garrett Wilson.
Joe Flacco
The last option we may see is a familiar face in Joe Flacco. Flacco started the first three games for the Jets last season, throwing 155 passes en route to what was honestly a pretty bad start for the team. He started four games overall, and only won one of them. On the bright side, Flacco was the quarterback who brought up the best game we have seen from Garrett Wilson. Unfortunately, the Jets do not care about fantasy football and this would probably be the last guy they sign from the three I provided.
A lot of things got completely flipped upside down from this Rodgers injury. These are some things that you can keep an eye out for as it is clear the Jets cannot ride with Zach Wilson all season. If you roster Garrett Wilson or Breece Hall, hopefully, one of these quarterbacks can help you out.
