The Philadelphia Eagles enter the 2024 NFL season after a controversial end to last year’s big aspirations. After several major offseason moves, they look to return to the playoffs. Can this team write the wrongs from 2023 and get close to locking down that Lombardi trophy for the second time in team history?
Philadelphia Eagles Game-By-Game Schedule Predictions 2024
Week 1: Green Bay Packers @ Philadelphia Eagles (Brazil, Friday Night Football)
The Eagles start their season on a day usually known for high school football. They will also lose a regular season home game to the international schedule, which no fan likes to hear. They will have formidable competition, too.
The Packers look to follow up on their impressive 2023 with their young offensive core. The Eagles will still have the edge on the offensive side of the football but expect this game to be close till the end.
Result: Win (1-0)
Week 2: Atlanta Falcons @ Philadelphia Eagles
The Falcons are a team that has entered contention talk in 2024. That is mainly due to the new quarterback, Kirk Cousins.
Cousins will look to get the ball to offensive weapons Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts. The last few quarterbacks through the door have struggled to do just that. Cousins will provide stability, but Lincoln Financial Field will be rocking. It’s hard to see the Eagles losing their first home game of the season in primetime.
Result: Win (2-0)
Week 3: Philadelphia Eagles @ New Orleans Saints
The Saints did an outstanding job restructuring contracts to keep their core primarily intact. However, it’s hard to consider the Saints one of the conference’s top teams. Playing this game at home will benefit them greatly, but it will not be enough to beat this Eagles team.
Result: Win (3-0)
Week 4: Philadelphia Eagles @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers ended the Eagles’ 2023 season and will give them their first loss of the 2024 season. Riding high off a three-game winning streak with wins over two top NFC contenders, the Eagles will not be able to free themselves from the 2023 season-ender. The Eagles might get the chance to avenge those losses in the playoffs, and they will not let that chance slip on their home field.
The Buccaneers seem to be underrated this season, sharing the same win-total projection as the Cardinals. They kept Mike Evans, who everyone thought was leaving, along with Baker Mayfield and Antoine Winfield Jr. They will be a better team than most expect, dropping the Eagles to 3-1.
Result: Loss (3-1)
Week 5: Cleveland Browns @ Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles fly back home after a split on the road to take on a talented Cleveland team. The fate of the Browns will be in Deshaun Watson’s hands, as the front office has given him more than enough talent to succeed. The problem is that I do not believe Watson will ever return to his pre-suspension level. And if that Watson is gone, it will be a rough season for the Browns.
The defense will be able to carry the team to some wins, but they need Watson to perform to take the team to the next level. I see the Eagles taking this one with a big game for the defense as they figure out their identity.
Result: Win (4-1)
Week 7: Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants
This classic NFC East showdown will be more challenging than it looks for the Eagles, but it will still be an easy win for the squad. Saquon Barkley will be returning to take on the team he played for to start his career. Expect him to show out against his former team, and he should have ample opportunity to do so.
The Giants have looked like a disaster, with Daniel Jones stringing together some lackluster performances in the preseason. At this point in the season, Giants fans should look to the college ranks and start scouting their new quarterback.
Result: Win (5-1)
Week 8: Philadelphia Eagles @ Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals will likely come into this game well-prepared to attack the Eagles’ greatest weakness from last season. Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins could be the best receiver duo in the league. If the cornerback position is not figured out by this game, the team could face rough sledding against the Bengals. If Chase and Higgins end up playing against the Eagles at this point, there is a very high chance of that happening.
There is some drama brewing in Cincinnati, which is something to watch, it’s doubtful that anything will happen. It’s worth being conservative and chalk this one as a loss, with the Bengals being the best team the Eagles have played thus far.
Result: Loss (5-2)
Week 9: Jacksonville Jaguars @ Philadelphia Eagles
Doug Pederson will make his second trip back to Philadelphia after being fired after the 2020 season. Fans do have Pederson to thank for DeVonta Smith being on the team. However, the current state of the Jaguars is a step or two behind the Eagles, and coach Pederson will leave town with his second loss against his former team.
Result: Win (6-2)
Week 10: Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys
This feels like the first time in a few years where neither game between these two teams will be on primetime. Judging how talented these two teams are, it’s quite bizarre they aren’t matched up in those slates. I do not make the schedule, though, and we will be spoiled in the afternoon window two times with these matchups.
Looking from the outside, the Cowboys and Eagles are going in two opposite directions. The Eagles are locking up all of their key pieces long-term, and the Cowboys are hesitant to give CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott contracts. The Cowboys’ front office will eventually hinder their team’s success, but at least for this year, they will still have a strong season. The two teams split last year, and I expect that to happen again this year.
Result Loss (6-3)
Week 11: Washington Commanders @ Philadelphia Eagles
This game will feature both teams playing on a short week on Thursday Night Football. It will be late enough in the season for us to know what to expect from rookie Jayden Daniels. Even if Daniels is a high-impact rookie, the team is still rebuilding, especially on the defensive end.
Jalen Hurts and his receivers will prove too much for this still-developing secondary. The Eagles will walk out of the weeknight with a much-needed win.
Result: Win (7-3)
Week 12: Philadelphia Eagles @ Los Angeles Rams
Sunday Night Football will give us a good game late in the season. This matchup could have plenty of fireworks, with both teams having top-ten offenses last season. Neither team subtracted from its offense; instead, they both added, with Kevin Dotson joining the Rams offensive line as a top guard in free agency. The Eagles’ defense should get more stops, with the Rams losing their best player to retirement. Expect the point total to be set high by Vegas, and also expect this game to deliver on the hype.
Result: Win (8-3)
Week 13: Philadelphia Eagles @ Baltimore Ravens
Having to go against Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry on the same offense is enough to worry any team. This game will likely go a long way toward determining home-field advantage in both conferences, much like the 49ers and Ravens game last year on Monday Night Football. The Eagles can sneak this out by keying on the run game with their talented defensive line. It will be close, but it will be their most important win of the season.
Result: Win (9-3)
Week 14: Carolina Panthers @ Philadelphia Eagles
After investing in Bryce Young this off-season, the Panthers will be a much-improved football team. However, they will remain in contention for a top pick in the draft. The team lacks the high-end talent that the Eagles have, and losing Brian Burns does not help that case at all. The Eagles will win this contest by multiple scores against a weak Panthers defense.
Result: Win (10-3)
Week 15: Pittsburgh Steelers @ Philadelphia Eagles
Last time, it was a competition between in-state teams, where Chase Claypool and Travis Fulgham put on an absolute touchdown fest. Both teams have come a long way since then. However, the Eagles have distanced themselves further from that time.
The Steelers, no matter who they start, will be behind many teams in terms of talent at the quarterback position. Eagles’ fans will leave the stadium happy as they exit 11-3, firmly in the mix for home-field advantage.
Result: Win (11-3)
Week 16: Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Commanders
The Eagles will finish the season off with three straight divisional matchups. The first will have the Eagles finish the season sweep of the Commanders. This contest could be a dreaded trap game for the Eagles, overlooking the Commanders to a massive showdown versus Dallas the following week. The talent difference between the two teams will help the Eagles avoid the potential scare and help them capture the win.
Result: Win (12-3)
Week 17: Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles
This game will likely determine the NFC’s home field, with the 49ers watching closely. The fans and the game’s location at Lincoln Financial Field will play a significant role in the Eagles’ securing the victory.
Another factor is whether Quinyon Mitchell or Cooper DeJean emerge as the team’s lockdown corner in hopes of slowing down Lamb. This team avoids the collapse and finishes strong down the stretch as we prepare to enter the playoffs.
Result: Win (13-3)
Week 18: New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles
It’s too bad that Boston Scott is not on the team, because this looks like a scenario where the starters get some rest. Couple that with Brian Daboll, who would be looking to make a final good impression on the front office.
This game has all the makings of the Giants trying to end their season with a win, and they will likely do so in this scenario. 13 wins last year would have been enough for the first seed, so I imagine it will be again. Will it be enough to save jobs? That is a different story for a different article.
Result: Loss (13-4)
With a 13-4 record, the Eagles can secure the No. 1 seed and continue their quest for another Lombardi trophy. The season can play out in many different ways, but this Eagles team should be up to the challenge. The difference between a one-seed and a five-seed could be coaching. We will see how this team handles adversity after last season’s collapse.
Predictions aren’t always correct, but fans hope this one is, as this would be the best-case scenario for the team. Fans likely couldn’t handle another collapse, and that would make for quite the offseason drama in the city of brotherly love.
