Film Notes and Highlights
Edgerrin Cooper has good size for a linebacker. He is comfortable in zone coverage, but was primarily used as a QB spy. This led to a lot of sack opportunities on quarterbacks leaving the pocket. He is not a great pass rusher and struggles to get off blocks as a pass rusher and a run stopper. Cooper takes poor pursuit angles and pad level, often attempting tackles blindly leading with his shoulder. He has a hard time changing direction, with poor agility and footwork – tripping over himself often. However, he does boast good straight line speed. Cooper has a hard time recognizing plays and is often the last player on the defense to read the situation. I think some NFL teams may fall in love with his size and potential, but as of now I consider Cooper as a late Day 2, early Day 3 prospect. – Thomas Christopher
