JD Bertrand is an aggressive player. However, often this leads to him taking poor pursuit and tackle angles. There’s too many occasions where Bertrand whiffs on a tackle, or his pursuit angle takes him out of a play completely. He’s also weak at the tackle point, being dragged multiple yards before bringing down a ball carrier. Bertrand lacks short area acceleration, and gets beat on change of direction by most players. In coverage, Bertrand is too slow to successfully play in man, but seems to have good understanding of his responsibilities in zone. I believe JD Bertrand is a later Day 3 prospect and likely a backup depth piece in the NFL. – Thomas Christopher
