Film Notes and Highlights
Xavier Worthy is known for his speed on film but he isn’t just a vertical threat. He has very good route running ability with his elite acceleration. Worthy has great quickness and speed in space; and is not afraid of taking on contact. Some things that I noticed that hold him back is his concentration and lack of physicality at the catch point on contested catches. I was surprised in 2023 he lined up out wide on 60% of snaps and think he will be used more in the slot at the next level.
He has good hands and snags the ball well so it is frustrating how he will drop easy catches. Worthy has great ability on special teams returning kicks and that should help elevate him in teams eyes. His quickness allows to beat defenders off the line and get behind the defense on vertical plays. Worthy can improve on route running especially down the field but on short routes shows good ability to get separation. Teams love speed and I see him getting picked mid to early second round, even though he has deficiencies in his game.
