“Days of the Offseason” Day 3: Dynasty Gold Mine: TEs!

fantasy football - irv smith

As the most scarce position in all of fantasy football, finding gems at the tight end position can be a very difficult task.

If you don’t have Travis Kelce, Darren Waller, or George Kittle, adding depth at TE is a necessity in gaining value at a scarce position. If you don’t have those three on your roster, these few guys will add value to your fantasy football team and should give a multitude of options for 2021.

1. Irv Smith Jr.

This won’t be the cheapest buy, but at his price it’s definitely worth it. Irv Smith saw a boost in targets and snaps in 2020. With Kyle Rudolph only getting older it opens the door for Irv Smith to take that next leap.

Smith is still only 22 years old. He can add youth and value to a position that doesn’t see much depth. The Vikings also had a Top-15 offense in 2020, and with just about everyone returning, it should bolster that same status entering 2021.

2. Tyler Higbee

Listen, last offseason was a bluff. Tyler Higbee’s potential break out year is this year, here’s why.

Matthew Stafford is heading to L.A., and brings a cannon along with him. Stafford is a significant upgrade from Jared Goff; and with him and Sean McVay leading the charge, this offense should see a bump in production.

Tyler Higbee also won’t have to worry about Gerald Everett, who hits free agency this offseason. The Rams won’t have the money to bring back Everett, which should open up a window for Higbee to pick up some targets and red zone opportunities.

3. Blake Jarwin

Blake Jarwin recently came out and said he’s ready to run it back with Dak Prescott; and as a fantasy manager it excites me to see what the TE can do in Dallas.

Dallas use TEs more often than others, as we saw Jason Witten tallied a Top-11 season as recently as 2019. With this kind of production coming from a 37 year old, Jarwin should see similar targets in an explosive offense.

Blake Jarwin can be bought for a late 3rd round pick, and with real Top-12 upside, he can add some real in-season value to your fantasy football roster for 2021.

Adding value is always key in fantasy football during the offseason; especially at the TE position. With the scarcity of talent at the position, adding players who have safe roles and sturdy volume should be top of the list when targeting TEs.
