I want to start this off with an accountability segment. I plan on doing this for each week, and for where I am at over the course of the fantasy football season. If a D/ST I recommended scored 5 or more fantasy points on the week, I am counting that as a success. So with that, here’s how I did last week. Oh boy, was it rough!
Accountability
- Cowboys: 4pts – BUST
- Chargers: 1pt – BUST
- Panthers: 14pts – SUCCESS
- Cardinals: -2pts – BUST
- Packers: 6pts – SUCCESS
- Honorable Mention Browns: 5pts – SUCCESS
- Overall: 3 successes – 3 busts
The logic for both the Chargers and Cowboys was right. The Cowboys had two interceptions and sacks, while the Chargers had one interception and two sacks. As for the Cardinals; they did not get nearly as many sacks as they did in Week 1. Nothing I can do but look to Week 3, right? Just a reminder, all the roster percentages are from ESPN’s fantasy football roster percentages.
Number 5: Dallas Cowboys 2.7%
We’re going back at it again with them! The Cowboys are home against the Eagles this week, and are sure to have some struggles against the Jalen Hurts-led offense. The Cowboys are allowing an average of 73.5 rushing yards to opposing teams over the first two weeks. Good news though, as the ‘Boys are averaging two interceptions per game. I expect Hurts to make some mistakes and for the Cowboys’ D/ST to get multiple interceptions and sacks.
Number 4: Tennessee Titans 5.1%
Tennessee has allowed 68 total points against them so far this season, but that’s against the high powered offenses of Arizona and Seattle. They now host Indianapolis, in what is both teams’ first divisional matchup of the season. Indy may be without starting quarterback Carson Wentz, which means they may have to run with one of the backups. There’s plenty of chances for interceptions, and the matchup will probably not be a high scoring affair.
Number 3: Indianapolis Colts 46.4%
Wait, both teams from this matchup?! Well, it did not work last week, so that means it has to work this week, right? The Colts defense has four sacks so far this season, and10 total QB hits. Let’s not forget, the Titans allowed five sacks in Week 1, and four in Week 2. We could see a similar situation in this matchup as we saw with the Cowboys and Chargers last week – sacks and interceptions for both teams.
Number 2: Las Vegas Raiders 21.6%
The Raiders are on a two game win streak against two of the best offenses from last year – the Ravens and Steelers. The Raiders have put a ton of effort into disrupting passes. You can ask Chase Claypool just how difficult they can be, with his lowly three receptions on nine targets Week 2. To top it off, Jacoby Brissett will be getting the start for the Dolphins as Tua Tagovailoa is out with an injury. The Raiders could see a 3-0 start for the first time since 2002. Fun fact: the last time the Raiders started 3-0, rookie tight end Kyle Pitts was under two years old.
Honorable Mention: Arizona Cardinals (53.1%)
The 2-0 Cardinals have seven sacks and allowed only 46 points over the past two weeks. They face the winless Jaguars and their four total touchdowns. If you can, start them in your fantasy football lineup.
Number 1: New York Giants 7.2%
The Giants? Really? Yes really. The Giants host the Atlanta Falcons and their offense that has struggled to get moving. James Bradberry and Adoree’ Jackson make a good duo that will cover the Atlanta receivers. I expect this to be a low scoring game, with the Giants dominating both sides of the ball. This is also the D/ST that I have the least confidence in, but has the best opportunity to score double digits in fantasy football.
I’m hoping this week is better than last, in terms of streaming fantasy football D/STs. If you need more help with streamers at other positions, check out Mikey Cannavo’s Week 3 Waiver Wire article. As always, good luck this week!
