Fantasy Football 2021: GameDay Edge – Week 7

fantasy football

First of all, my apologies for not publishing a GameDay Edge fantasy football article last week. My two year old got his hands on my laptop and destroyed it. He’s definitely Jack-Jack from The Incredibles. Still no laptop, but writing from tablet.

Let’s take a moment and appreciate the greatest of Derrick Henry who is on pace for a remarkable second season of over 2000 yards. Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing title is in jeopardy!

Today, I will look at only two matchups as several teams are on bye.

Tennessee Titans vs Kansas City Chiefs

  • Chiefs defense continue to struggle yielding more points to quarterbacks than all teams except Washington Football Team. They are yielding 5.6 yards a rush to quarterbacks and have given up 3 rushing touchdowns to QBs as well.
  • The Titans secondary continues to yield high completion percentage, yards and touchdowns to WRs as they are playing rookies at CBs. They give up 14.5 yards a completion so attacking downfield comes easy against the Titans.
  • Kansas City defense gives up 5.2 yards a carry while the Titans rush for 5.1 yards a carry.

Summary

Tennessee Titans win against the Buffalo Bills can be labeled as an upset as the Bills defense has been playing lights out. Titans continued to yield lots of yards but their red zone defense held the Bills offense at crucial moments in the game.

If I am setting a DFS lineup or selecting players for Lineup Showdown, I’m targeting this game. Titans will try to control it by running the ball and likely succeed running it. However Kansas will score in abundance as well against this young secondary. So fire up all skill players in this game. Darrell Williams could be a key pivot in fantasy football lineups.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Las Vegas Raiders

  • Both teams generate 5.9 yards a play and give up 5.1 yards a play. Talk about evenly matched teams. Queue the kickers.
  • The Raiders defense are sixth against TEs yielding 10.8 points per game. The Eagles defense is seventh yielding 10.4 points per game. Queue the TEs.
  • The Raiders are third best in terms of fantasy points to WRs yielding only 17.4 to the position. Eagles are seventh at 20.4 PPG. Queue the RBs.

Summary

Both defenses are good against WRs but horrible against TEs and RBs. Eagles defensive line can control the LOS against a mediocre Raiders OL to tilt the favor in the Eagles favor.

Will the Eagles commit to the run or continue to ignore their offensive strength. Running comes easy against the Raiders. If the Eagles are pass heavy again, they would be playing into the strength of the Raiders defense. However Dallas Goedart can smash and likely is a great pivot in fantasy football DFS and Lineup Showdown leagues.
