Fantasy Football 2023: Week 15 Sleepers

Anyone can look at fantasy football rankings, but what if you like risks and want to swing for the fences? As the season goes on, this will be the spot for you to find the sleepers to start in your fantasy football league. Especially when byes and injuries start to pile up. Each week I will be picking one fantasy football sleeper at each position. These players are set to outperform their ranking and help win your week on the way to becoming a League Winner! Welcome to Fantasy Football 2023: Week 15 Sleepers.

Now let’s look at what we are picking from:

  • I’m defining a sleeper as someone ranked outside of the top 30 for WRs and RBs who will finish in the top 20 at the position. That would be around 14 fantasy points based on the average of last year.
  • For QBs and TEs, I am defining them as outside the top 12 but will finish in the top 10. Last year using average points per game that would be 21 fantasy points for QB and 11 fantasy points for TE.
  • PPR Expert Consensus Rankings (ECR) on Fantasy Pros will be used. These players may not be on the waiver wire but could be big
  • I will track the hit rate based on the above settings but also how far the picked sleepers outperform their initial rankings for the week.

Week 14 Review

Week 14 we went 2-2 with players finishing higher than they were initially ranked. Jake Browning was a huge hit and if you played him he should have seriously bumped your chance of winning. Dameon Pierce and Jordan Addison were big misses. Both of their offenses struggled more than I anticipated.  I am 11/45 on sleeper hits and 23/37 on players finishing higher than they were initially ranked. For the year I am at 62% of hitting the player ranking above their initial ranking.

So, now let’s take a look at some fantasy football sleepers for Week 15 of the NFL season.

QB: Geno Smith vs the Philadelphia Eagles

Fantasy Pros ECR: QB20

Geno Smith missed last week’s game against the San Francisco 49ers but the week before he had a huge game against the Dallas Cowboys. He finished as quarterback one and had over three hundred passing yards with three touchdowns. This week he will get to return against the Philadelphia Eagles who are giving up the most fantasy points to quarterbacks. In the last three games, the Eagles are giving up the second most passing yards in the NFL.

RB: Tyjae Spears vs the Houston Texans

Fantasy Pros ECR: RB37

Tyjae Spears has been coming on as of late as the Tennessee Titans are trying to take some of the load off of Derrick Henry. Spears has 23 carries in the last two games when he had 50 the rest of the season. He has also finished in the top 20 amongst running backs in the last two games and that is without making it in the endzone. This week the Titans get a fairly good matchup with the Houston Texans. They are giving up the 15th most points to running backs in the NFL. The Texans allow 6 running back targets a game and Spears has 14 targets in the last two games.

WR: Odell Beckham Jr. vs the Jacksonville Jaguars

Fantasy Pros ECR: WR34

Odell Beckham Jr. after a slow start is coming on for the Baltimore Ravens. He has finished in the top 20 wide receivers in three of the last five games and has five or more targets in four of those games. He gets a good matchup this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars who give up the seventh most points to wide receivers. In the last four games, the Ravens have shown they can support multiple receivers. In that period Zay Flowers has 28 targets and Beckham Jr. has 24 targets.

TE: Tucker Kraft vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Fantasy Pros ECR: TE17

Since the injury to Luke Musgrave, Tucker Kraft has been stepping up and is a sneaky play this week. Kraft in the last two weeks has seven catches on 10 targets for 101 receiving yards. Last week against the New York Giants he had his most receiving yards of his rookie year and get the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week who give up the 10th most fantasy points to tight ends.

Good luck to everyone this week! Hopefully these Week 15 sleepers can take your fantasy football team over the top. Make sure to follow our content all year so we can help you to be a League Winner!
