Fantasy Football Dynasty: Buy, Sell, & Hold – NFC East Edition

fantasy football - Miles Sanders all trust team

The undefeated Eagles lead this division. Jalen Hurts is looking like an early favourite for fantasy football MVP. He is keeping three pass catchers happy and is using his legs to pad his stats. Cooper Rush has kept the Cowboys competitive while Dak Prescott has been hurt. Can this offense take another step forward once their guy is back? The surprising 5-1 Giants have won ugly, but are getting the job done! The Commanders started hot, but cooled quickly and could be looking at a QB change soon. Let’s have a look at what we should be doing with a few of these players on a dynasty rosters.

Buy – David Bellinger – TE – New York Giants

Bellinger was drafted in the fourth round out of San Diego St. He is currently TE19 on KTC. Yet, he is averaging 7.9 points per game. He is the TE14 in fantasy football despite not being involved Week 1.

The Giants have been desperate for pass-catchers this year. Injuries have left this team playing the likes of Richie James and David Sills at WR. Bellinger has risen to the occasion and is leading the pass catchers in red zone targets. He has already found the end zone twice on five targets.

It’s rare for a rookie TE to take over, but Bellinger has won the job. Look for his value to continue to climb. See if you can snatch him up for a third round pick.

Honorable Mention

Jahan Dotson – WR – Washington Commanders

Dotson is still cheap if you compare him to the other first round WRs. Currently ranked as the WR28 on KTC. Garrett Wilson is WR17, Jameson Williams without ever playing a game is WR22, and then Drake London and Chris Olave are WR11 and 12, respectively. Then you have George Pickens at WR 21. All Dotson did was score four TDs in his first four games before getting hurt.

Don’t let the Commanders mess at QB deter you from at least making an offer on Dotson. If he comes back and finds the end zone in his first game back from injury his value will only continue to rise. There are a lot of mouths to feed in this offense, but he is getting targeted where it matters for fantasy football purposes!

Contender Buy

Ezekiel Elliott – RB – Dallas Cowboys

If you are looking for some RB depth, look no further than Ezekiel Elliott. He has a nice schedule moving forward. He plays the Lions, Bears, Packers, Giants, Texans and the Jaguars in six of the next nine games. These are teams ranked 22nd or worse against the run.

He is currently RB37 on KTC and can be had in most leagues for a 2nd. There is no denying he has taken a step back, but he is still RB24 on the year averaging 9.5 points per game. I expect him to find the end zone more often with Prescott coming back.

Sell

Terry McLaurin – WR – Washington Commanders

McLaurin is currently ranked as the WR34 on KTC. He has dropped significantly since the start of the year. His peak was at WR16 back at the beginning of September. It has been a sad free fall since, and his chance to raise his stock again is slight.

First off, McLaurin is already 27 years old, and he hasn’t shown enough consistency this year to warrant a rise again. Mclaurin hasn’t seen double digit targets this year, and not once has he seen the most targets by a Commander. He also only has five red zone targets, which he hasn’t been able to capitalize on.

There are a lot of mouths to feed in the Commanders offense now that Curtis Samuel is back healthy; and the Commanders used a first round pick on Jahan Dotson. McLaurin no longer needs to be the target hog he was the last couple of years.

Not only are there a lot of mouths to feed, but there is a good chance the Commanders turn to Sam Howell sometime soon. Maybe he will be an upgrade over Wentz, but still doesn’t fix the problem of too many mouths to feed.

McLaurin signed a three year contract with the Commanders. Unless he gets traded, he will be nearly 31 when he hits the open market. I’d get off this sinking boat while there is still some value.

Honourable Mention

Sell – Miles Sanders – RB – Philadelphia Eagles

Miles Sanders is currently the RB9 in fantasy football. Sanders has been one of the more consistent backs this season, making him a perfect sell candidate to a contending team. He is not someone you want to hold, unless you are competing.

Chances are slim the Eagles will re-sign him, meaning he will be looking for a new team in the offseason. With a strong rookie class coming in, starting jobs will not be easy to find. This is his peak value. There is a chance you could get a late 2023 1st for him; or at least a couple of 2nd’s. You could hold and wait for the slight chance it increases, but Sanders does have an injury history.

Hold

Dallas Goedert – TE – Philadelphia Eagles

Goedert is currently the TE6 on the year, averaging 9.1 points per game. He is the fourth most consistent TE, behind only Kelce, Andrews and Ertz. He is seeing 5.6 targets per game, which is third best on the team. His five red zone targets puts him second on the team, but sadly he only has one TD.

With Goedert only turning 28 in January, there is still a chance we see his value rise. He has rightfully passed Waller and Kittle in fantasy football dynasty rankings. There is no reason why he can’t surpass T.J. Hockenson who has been very inconsistent. Consistent TEs are hard to find. Don’t let them go when you find one! Not unless you are getting a king’s ransom!

Hold

Antonio Gibson – RB – Washington Commanders

Gone are the days of Ron Rivera comparing Gibson to Christian McCaffrey. Fumbles have been a problem for him throughout his NFL career. Despite finishing as a top 12 rusher in back-to-back years, Gibson has lost his job to rookie Brian Robinson

He is too talented to not be utilized but has fallen out of favour. There is a chance this coaching staff isn’t around next year. He’s not going to get you much in a trade, you might as well hold and hope for the best.
