Fantasy Faceplant: Week 14

fantasy football

This is what kills your team; that top-ranked consensus player that has a fantasy faceplant. A fantasy faceplant is a player who finishes at least 15 spots lower than expected on a given week. Everyone knows Fantasy Football has so much variance week-to-week, so the faceplants might be just a blip. But as we go through the season we can see if the players show a trend. I will use FantasyPros each week to get the initial rankings. The players highlighted are from the TNF game and the Sunday day games. These do not include the SNF or MNF games. You can view last week’s faceplants here.

Antonio Gibson, Washington Football Team

Started – RB5
Sunday Finish – RB41

The Washington offense struggled for much of the day because of the strong Dallas defense and trailed most of the game. This caused Gibson to only have 10 carries for 36 yards on the day.

Moving Forward: I do not worry about Gibson as he is the clear RB1. Before this game, he had 20+ carries in the last two games and over 20 fantasy points in those games.

Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Raiders

Started – RB8
Sunday Finish – RB30

Another game where it got out of hand quickly and part of that was because Jacobs had an early fumble that was taken back for a touchdown. The positive was that he received 6 targets on the day.

Moving Forward: Jacobs was on the field for 75% of the snaps which is his 2nd highest of the year and since Kenyan Drake is injured that will continue. The Raiders offense is struggling and that has carried over to Jacobs so you still probably have to start him but is much riskier than earlier in the season.

Tyreek Hill, Kansas City Chiefs

Started – WR5
Sunday Finish – WR39

Tyreek Hill only had 4 targets on the day but that still was tied for the lead for the Chiefs. 8 different receivers caught passes and with the big lead, a lot was not needed from Hill.

Moving Forward: While disappointing that with 48 points, Hill did not do much this got out of hand fast and he is still WR 4 in PPR scoring. No worries for Hill moving forward, hopefully, you still made the playoffs with this down game from him.

Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs

Started – TE1
Sunday Finish – TE23

Travis Kelce, like Hill, only got 4 targets on the day and only accounted for 27 receiving yards. The was his lowest target amount of the season but the second straight quiet game.

Moving Forward: Kelce is still TE2 in PPR scoring but the back to back low scoring games might have cost you a playoff spot. If you are still alive, Kelce still remains in starting lineup as Mahomes will continue to depend on him. This is hopefully just a couple of game blips in his season and he will get back to high-scoring games for the fantasy playoffs.
