In a week filled with controversy, surprises, and comebacks, Week 14 proved to be fairly routine building a fantasy football cash lineup.
I wanted a cheap quarterback capable of exceeding value, touchdown upside from my running backs, wide receiver targets, and a value tight end. With this week’s fantasy football lineup, my score of 141.70 points took home every Double Up and head-to-head contest I entered this Sunday.
At quarterback, Taysom Hill made the most sense for my lineup. With New Orleans a big favorite, Hill’s rushing upside felt like a certainty to find the end zone. Despite Alvin Kamara’s return from a knee injury, Hill felt like he would contribute in a big play. While Kamara also played well, Hill’s two rushing touchdowns started my fantasy football lineup with a crisp 26. 3 points at just $5,600. While Hill was a great value, my running backs frustrated me with lackluster displays.
The Washington Football Team’s offense failed to create any early positive sparks. Antonio Gibson failed to keep up his strong play. Despite almost pulling off a miracle comeback on the Dallas Cowboys, Washington’s bad game script kept Gibson watching on the bench. Gibson disappointed me with just 5.1 points.
Despite the bad game, Gibson’s rushing and receiving upside felt great with J. D. McKissic missing his second straight game. Meanwhile, San Francisco running back Jeff Wilson Jr. felt like a good value with Elijah Mitchell out. Despite getting more than half of the team’s rushes, Wilson only tallied 56 rushing yards. Jimmy Garoppolo nearly topping 300 yards meant few carries for Wilson.
At receiver, two of my guys shined this afternoon. Hunter Renfrow continued his strong play with 13 catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. Despite the Raiders losing to the Chiefs 48-8, Renfrow made the most of a horrible afternoon for the Silver and Black. Like Renfrow, Buc’s star Chris Godwin proved to be Tom Brady’s security blanket with a 10-catch, 105-yard win over the Buffalo Bills.
My final receiver looked to be in a great spot. With Keenan Allen unavailable, Mike Williams was in a good spot to receive plenty of work against the Giants. With Justin Herbert throwing the football, Williams felt like a great fantasy football decision, Despite catching six passes, Williams’ 61 yards did not make my day, but he did not cost me.
Like most weeks, a punt tight end makes the most sense in fantasy football cash leagues. With Cleveland’s other tight ends not available, Austin Hooper was my tight end. With five receptions including a touchdown, Hooper’s 14 points proved vital for my lineups.
At the Flex, back Austin Ekeler was in a great spot against the Giants. Without Allen, Ekeler looked to get even more targets with touchdown equity. In the third quarter, Ekeler sustained an ankle injury – which knocked him from the game. While not completing the entire game, Ekeler’s 16.4 points could have easily reached 20-25. Despite the injury, I felt Ekeler was the right flex move on my fantasy football cash lineup.
For defense, I varied on which unit to pick. Despite not looking the best, the Seattle Seahawks matchup against David Mills and the Houston Texans looked fine for a fantasy football cash game. With a six-point game, Seattle’s unit worked for me.
In the end, Week 14 proved to be an exciting week with plenty of hits and wins for me. I look forward to a successful Week 15 next week.
