The Green Bay Packers are about to embark on an 17-game grind, with some very talented teams on their 2024 NFL schedule. Which opponents does Green Bay have? How will all of their games play out? Here are our Packers game-by-game predictions for the 2024 NFL season.
Green Bay Packers 2024 Schedule Predictions
Week 1 @ PHI (Brazil)
The Packers kick off their 2024 schedule, and the start of the NFL regular-season in South America, against the Philadelphia Eagles. The two playoff hopefuls will face off on Friday September 6, in Brazil.
The Eagles are a deep team, both on offense and on defense. But the toughest test for the Packers is Philadelphia’s quarterback. Jalen Hurts is one of the best rushing quarterbacks in the NFL, especially in short-yardage situations. As a result, the Eagles offense is difficult to get off the field. And when Green Bay loads up to stop the run, Hurts can also win through the air. As a first test for this new defense, the Packers have a tall task against Hurts and the Eagles.
Result: Loss (0-1)
Week 2 vs IND
The Indianapolis Colts could cause concern for the Packers defense. This is back-to-back games against arguably the two most dangerous rushing quarterbacks in the league, especially when it comes to rushing touchdowns.
While young, Anthony Richardson is an impressive athlete with tremendous upside. From Green Bay’s perspective, the defense still hinges on Kenny Clark. And two weeks in a row against strong rushing signal-callers will test Clark endurance. Richardson and the Colts could take advantage of when Clark has to rotate out. However, unlike the Packers Week 1 opponent, Richardson is not refined as a passer. This will only be Richardson’s sixth career start. Meaning this Indianapolis offense will probably be more one-dimensional than the Eagles.
Result: Win (1-1)
Week 3 @ TEN
Could the Tennessee Titans be the worst team in 2024? That is certainly a possibility. Will Levis only started half the season last year, so he can still effectively be treated like a rookie. Yet how much success will Levis find without his best receiver?
DeAndre Hopkins recently suffered a knee injury in training camp. If he does return for this game against the Packers, he will still need to re-develop chemistry with his young quarterback. This could be the perfect recipe for Green Bay to get over .500 for the first time in 2024.
Result: Win (2-1)
Week 4 vs MIN
Who will be the Minnesota Vikings quarterback in Week 4? Will they turn immediately to the rookie J.J. McCarthy? Or will Sam Darnold hold off the kid through this portion of the season? Either way, one would have to like the Packers chances in this contest.
While the Vikings have talent at the top, they are not a very deep team on either side of the ball. Green Bay does draw some luck by facing Minnesota early on in the season, before they can truly establish themselves as a squad.
Result: Win (3-1)
Week 5 @ LAR
Even when the Los Angeles Rams won the Super Bowl, the Packers still beat them during the 2021 season. This is not the same Rams team we saw win it all three years ago. Their offense isn’t all that different, but the defensive unit has had an almost complete turn around.
Matt LaFleur has had Sean McVay’s number in the past. The connection between Matthew Stafford and his talented receivers can only take the Rams so far. Jordan Love should be able to overcome that and keep Green Bay’s win streak going.
Result: Win (4-1)
Week 6 vs ARZ
This game on the Packers 2024 schedule is the second in back-to-back weeks against a NFC West opponent. The best season for the Arizona Cardinals in recent memory happened to be that same 2021 season that the Rams won the Super Bowl.
En route to an eventual Wild Card loss, the Cardinals started that year with a 7-0 record. Then they ran into the Packers and suffered their first loss of the season. So even when Arizona was at their best, Green Bay still go the better of them. And that was with the Packers missing several key players. Green Bay has every reason to extend their win streak to five games.
Result: Win (5-1)
Week 7 vs HOU
Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud had tremendous success as a rookie in 2023. Was it a fluke? While he had an elevated yards-per-attempt last year, Stroud accomplished that with excellent down field accuracy. Considering that the Texans added Stefon Diggs to the roster, Stroud could actually improve in 2024. With his skill set, and the team around him, one could argue that Stroud is the best quarterback that the Packers will face during this season. He might not have the true two-dimensional game like Hurts, but Stroud could be a big problem for Green Bay.
Result: Loss (5-2)
Week 8 @ JAX
In only one season as a starter, Love has already accomplished as much as Trevor Lawrence has in three full years. The Jacksonville Jaguars‘ franchise quarterback has won a playoff game, like Love, but has also showed struggles in the NFL. Love has a 30-touchdown season under his belt, while Lawrence barely hit 20 passing scores last year. Also, the Jaguars do not have a true gamebreaker on defense like the Packers have in Clark. So offensively or defensively, Green Bay looks to be the better team.
Result: Win (6-2)
Week 9 vs DET
In all likelihood, the NFC North crown will come down to the Packers and the Detroit Lions. After being a laughingstock for years, Detroit has quickly transformed into one of the best offenses in the league. And after losing to the Lions at home early last season, will there be more disappointment from fans in Green Bay?
One similarity between the two franchises is that both teams just gave out massive contract extensions to their franchise quarterbacks. In this first Love versus Jared Goff battle of 2024, I predict that Detroit will come out on top.
Result: Loss (6-3)
Week 11 @ CHI
The Packers face an NFC North rival before and after their bye week. Returning to action in Week 11, they face the Chicago Bears, armed with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. Will things turn out differently for a franchise that has failed to develop any of its talented quarterback prospects? Until contrary evidence exists, one should continue to assume that everything in Chicago will turn to disaster. And until the Bears prove that they can beat Green Bay, I will continue to predict a Packers victory in Chicago.
Result: Win (7-3)
Week 12 vs SF
If there is any team that can be considered Green Bay’s kryptonite, it would be the San Francisco 49ers. While the Packers would love nothing more than to avenge the Divisional Round loss from last year, San Francisco always seems to strike gold. Green Bay will have home field advantage, but will that be enough? Quarterback Brock Purdy is underrated by much of the NFL community. Yet, he keeps throwing touchdowns and pilling up wins.
Result: Loss (7-4)
Week 13 vs MIA
In 2024, the Packers kick of their Thursday Night Football schedule at home against the Miami Dolphins. Much like Love, Miami’s quarterback Tua Tagovailoa received a massive contract extension this offseason. With his top two targets also in tow, Tagovailoa has the weapons to deal out damage to opposing defenses.
Can Green Bay contain both Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle? Considering that the Packers improved on defense with the addition of Xavier McKinney, they just might be able to. It could be the Dolphins defense that causes concern for their fans. Green Bay has the depth at receiver to achieve victory against Miami.
Result: Win (8-4)
Week 14 @ DET
Week 14 signals back-to-back Thursday Night Football contests for Green Bay. The home-and-home series inside the NFC North can get quite strange. There was the 2015 NFL season where the Packers lost all three of their divisional games at home. However, Green Bay went on the road and earned victories against all three rivals in their stadiums. The same dynamic existed between the Packers and the Lions last year. Detroit found victory in Green Bay, while the Packers struck back and got a win in the Lions den. Will the same thing occur in 2024?
Result: Win (9-4)
Week 15 @ SEA
In Week 15, who knows who will be starting at quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks. The team’s plan is likely to have Geno Smith behind center all season. However, if the Seahawks are out of playoff contention, they may play Sam Howell late in the season. Either way, the Packers defense should feel confident about a victory as neither quarterback is a true game breaker.
Smith has shown to be consistent since arriving to Seattle, but he has probably demonstrated his full potential up to this point. Meanwhile, Howell is still ascending, but prone to making mistakes, especially taking sacks. Given the makeup of the Seahawks, it’s hard to pick against the Packers in this game.
Result: Win (10-4)
Week 16 vs NO
Early in the 2023 season, the Packers got a win against the New Orleans Saints. Green Bay overcame a 17-point deficit to secure the victory. However, one major event occurred early in the second half.
Saints quarterback Derek Carr left that game with an injury. At the time, New Orleans held a 17-0 lead. The Carr injury completely shut down the offense as they did not score a single point for the remainder of the contest. It also seemed to negatively affect the Saints defense, which allowed 18 points in the final frame. If Carr is able to get through this game healthy, then he may be able to get the win in Green Bay.
Result: Loss (10-5)
Week 17 @ MIN
There is a real possibility that the Packers face two different Vikings quarterbacks this season. One would assume by this point that McCarthy is starting and developing his game. It is reasonable to expect Minnesota to be stronger than they were during the Week 4 matchup in Green Bay. However, it is still probably too early in the Vikings rebuild to beat the Packers.
Result: Win (11-5)
Week 18 vs CHI
We get to the regular-season finale. At this point of the calendar, Williams will have gone through most of his rookie season. Will he have developed enough to overcome the Packers? Until I see the Bears come to Green Bay and get a win, I will assume that the Packers defend home field and end the regular season with a victory.
Result: Win (12-5)
According to these schedule predictions, the Packers will finish with a 12-5 record for the 2024 NFL season. That should assure them a playoff spot for a second consecutive year – and maybe even a NFC crown.
