Film Notes and Highlights
Jonathon Brooks was off to a great season before his injury in 2023. Throughout his career he has averaged over six yards per carry, but my worry is only one year of serious production. I know Bijan Robinson started ahead of him at Texas, but only 51 attempts in two years seems low if he is truly that talented.
Now to the positives. Jonathon Brooks is a good blocker and receiver out of the backfield. He is a smooth runner and shows patience for blocks to set up. He has the vision for cutbacks and is good in putting his foot in the ground and making sure to get positive yards. He presses defenders in the hole and is able to make people miss at the line of scrimmage. Sometimes his patience causes him to hit the hole too slowly and allows for defenders to penetrate the backfield. I see a little of Le’Veon Bell in Brooks in how he presses the line of scrimmage. – Brandon Haye
