Fantasy Football IDP Start or Sit Week 14 – Start

Linebackers

Khalil Mack- Los Angeles Chargers vs Broncos

Mack has become a weekly must-start, so starting him here in a prime matchup should come as no surprise. He has recorded five or more tackles in three straight games and has added six sacks and two forced fumbles during that stretch. This week he gets a matchup with the Denver Broncos who are the best matchup for opposing linebackers. Denver is allowing a fantasy points boost of 20.8% above league average to linebackers and should make for a monster opportunity for Mack.

Quincy Williams– New York Jets vs Texans

Williams has recorded six games this season with double-digit tackle numbers and is on his way to a monster season. This season he has gone under five tackles only once and has been a model of consistency on a tough Jet’s defence. He will go up against the Houston Texans in Week 14, a defence that currently ranks as the 2nd best matchup for opposing linebackers. The Texans are allowing a fantasy production boost of 12.8% above league average to the position and should allow Williams to continue his elite level of production.

Devin Lloyd– Jacksonville Jaguars vs Browns

Lloyd has not recorded less than eight tackles in a game since Week 3 of this season. He has been on an absolute tear and is a force to reckon with on the Jaguar’s defence. He has battled injuries from time to time this season, but when healthy he is an elite fantasy producer. This week he squares off with the Cleveland Browns who are the 3rd best matchup for opposing linebackers. Cleveland is allowing 11.8% over league average to linebackers this season and should allow Lloyd to once again find his way into double-digit tackles.

Defensive Linemen

Jonathan Greenard– Houston Texans vs Jets

Greenard has enjoyed modest production this season but has been a consistent producer for fantasy. He has totalled more than nine fantasy points in eight games this season and can be relied on again in Week 14. In Week 14 he goes up against the New York Jets who currently rank as the best matchup for opposing linemen. The Jets are allowing a production spike of a whopping 35.5% above the league average to the position.

Rashan Gary– Green Bay Packers vs Giants

Gary lit up the score sheet on Thanksgiving Day as he racked up seven tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He will go up against the New York Giants this week, an excellent matchup that ranks as the 2nd best for linemen. The Giants are allowing a massive 35.3% fantasy points above the league-average to the position and should allow Gary to replicate a career game from two weeks ago.

Travon Walker– Jacksonville Jaguars vs Browns

Walker has been disappointing early on in his career given his draft capital but is producing at a solid level for fantasy managers. This week he will look to capitalize on an easy matchup with the Cleveland Browns who are the 3rd easiest matchup for opposing linemen. The Browns are allowing a fantasy points boost of 11.8% to linemen, not a massive boost, but enough to ensure Walker has another solid stat line.

Defensive Backs

Amani Hooker– Tennessee Titans vs Dolphins

Hooker has only put up less than eight fantasy points on two occasions this season, he has been supremely consistent. In Week 14 he faces the Miami Dolphins who are the best matchup for opposing defensive backs and should again make for a positive situation for his fantasy production. The Dolphins are giving opposing defensive backs a fantasy points boost of 20.9% above the league average and should once again allow Hooker to record double-digit fantasy points.

Paulson Adebo– New Orleans Saints vs Panthers

Adebo has been excellent and has recorded six tackles in three of his last four games. As his playing time has increased, so has his fantasy production. This trend should repeat once again in Week 14 in a prime matchup against the Carolina Panthers who are currently the 2nd best matchup for opposing defensive backs. The Panthers are allowing a fantasy points boost of 15.0% above league average to the position and will make for an easy matchup to the consistent Adebo.

Damontae Kazee– Pittsburgh Steelers vs Patriots

Kazee has recorded five or more tackles in five of his past seven games and is a weekly set-and-forget IDP player. While he doesn’t have an elite fantasy ceiling he is amazingly consistent and can be trusted again this week. In week 14 he faces the New England Patriots who are the 3rd best matchup for opposing defensive backs. New England is giving defensive backs a fantasy boost of 11.3% above the league average. Look for Kazee to put up his usual consistent numbers.

IDP Start or Sit Week 14 – Sit

Linebackers

Micah McFadden– New York Giants vs Packers

McFadden produced at a solid level over the last month and has not seen a game in which he recorded less than six tackles during that span. This week he goes up against the toughest matchup for linebackers, the Green Bay Packers. The Packers are holding opposing linebackers to 19.9% below the league average and will be a tall task for McFadden to conquer.

EJ Speed– Indianapolis Colts vs Bengals

Speed has been great over the past two games after being fantasy-irrelevant up to that point. His new role and production seem to be inspired by injuries to Colt’s defence. However, this week he goes up against the Cincinnati Bengals who are the 2nd worst matchup for linebackers. The Bengals are limiting opposing linebackers to 19.9% below the league average and will be a tough test for the potential breakout fantasy star.

Josey Jewell– Denver Broncos vs Chargers

Jewell has been a consistent, trustworthy starter for IDP managers this season but in Week 14 he squares off with the Los Angeles Chargers who currently sit as the 3rd hardest matchup for opposing linebackers. The Chargers are holding the position to 19.1% below the league average and do not allow a great deal of fantasy points against them. This could be a tough ask for Jewell in a brutal fantasy matchup.

Defensive Linemen

Harold Landry– Tennessee Titans vs Dolphins

Landry has been up and down all season. In one game he records nine tackles, and in the next game only one. He has been a risky start all season and is best left on the bench in this matchup. He faces the Miami Dolphins this week who are easily the worst matchup for opposing linemen. Miami is holding linemen to 27.5% below the league average. Landry is too inconsistent to trust in a matchup this bad.

Mike Danna– Kansas City Chiefs vs Bills

Danna is far from a household name unless you are a hardcore IDP player or a Chiefs fan, but he has had some periods of fantasy usefulness throughout this season. He has just as many bust games this season as he does boom games which is typically a formula for disaster. Add in a Week 14 matchup with the Buffalo Bills who are the 3rd worst matchup for opposing linemen and he cannot be trusted to produce this week. Buffalo is limiting linemen to 22.4% below the league average for the position and Danna should be avoided in this one.

AJ Epenesa– Buffalo Bills vs Chiefs

Epenesa has been hugely disappointing this season except for three massive boom games he has sprinkled throughout bad performances. He has recorded more than three tackles this season only one time and has been relying on sacks to give him any fantasy production at all. This week he faces the Kansas City Chiefs who are the 3rd worst matchup for opposing linemen. The Chiefs are allowing 22.4% below the league average to the position and will likely be another bust game for Epenesa.

Defensive Backs

Jalen Ramsey– Miami Dolphins vs Titans

Ramsey was once a fantasy IDP must-start, gone are those days. Now he finds himself as a peripheral contributor on a mediocre defence. He has two double-digit fantasy performances this season but has not been on the field for much of the year. This week he goes up against the Tennessee Titans who are the worst matchup for opposing defensive backs. Tennessee is holding the opposing defensive backs to 18.9% below the league average and will prove to be another game in which Ramsey is unable to contribute anything of value.

Asante Samuel– Los Angeles Chargers vs Broncos

Samuel has been better for the Chargers than he has been for fantasy managers. He has been consistent throughout the season, but it’s been consistently mediocre. In Week 14 he faces the Denver Broncos who are currently the 2nd worst matchup for defensive backs. The Broncos are limiting opposing defensive backs to 17.0% below the league average and will be a tough opponent to produce for Samuel.

Jamal Adams– Seattle Seahawks vs 49ers

Adams was excellent in each of the Seahawks’ last two games but this week will be a much tougher task. In Week 14 he goes up against a San Francisco 49ers squad that is solid all around and ranks as the 3rd worst matchup for opposing defensive backs. San Franciso is allowing 14.8% below the league average to the position and will put a halt on the mini run that Adams has gone on of late.
