The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets continue their excellent June in recruiting. With an astonishing 22 commits in June, they have the No. 26 class in the nation and No. 6 in the ACC.
Georgia Tech Football: Recruiting Roundup – June 13-16
In the past couple of days, they’ve earned commitment from four-star linebacker Cole Crawford, three-star linebacker Noah Renes, and three-star offensive tackle Braylin Mills. Crawford is the sixth-highest rated Georgia Tech commit in Rivals’ database, while Mills is the first offensive tackle commit the Yellow Jackets have earned. All three of them could be interesting pieces of the Georgia Tech puzzle in the coming years.
All rankings are via Rivals’ recruiting database.
LB Cole Crawford
- Position: Linebacker
- Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 200 pounds
- HS/City/State: Cartersville High School, Cartersville, Georgia
- Pos./State/National Rank: 33/43/363
Crawford is a stat-sheet stuffer at Cartersville, one of the powerhouses of 4A football in the state of Georgia. Through his junior season, he earned 55 tackles, five QB hurries, four tackles for loss, two passes defensed, and an interception.
To start, Crawford is great at the green-dot position. He is an ideal Mike linebacker, with his ability to diagnose the play, spy on the quarterback, and choose the right tackle lane on runs. His ability to fill the box and close gaps will make him a great run-stopper at the next level, and he shows great play-diagnosing ability.
Crawford has enough athleticism to cover tight ends and running backs out of the flat. He probably won’t be asked to cover slot receivers or Y tight ends, but with some zone fine-tuning, he will be an ideal green-dot linebacker at the next level. He plays kind of like Taurean York of Texas A&M.
OT Braylin Mills
- Position: Offensive Tackle
- Height/Weight: 6-foot-7, 350 pounds
- HS/City/State: Houston County High School, Warner Robbins, Georgia
- Pos./State/National Rank: 62/99/830
The Yellow Jackets earned a massive dude in Braylin Mills, who could be a great addition as their first offensive tackle commit. With his unique combination of size, speed, and strength, Mills is one of the hidden gems of Georgia Tech’s class and could be a future all-ACC player.
Mills wins off the line with his strength. He’s got a large wingspan and strong enough arms to bully any edge rusher. That makes him an effective run blocker, and he plays with the kind of jerk attitude you need for a good run blocker.
He also uses his feet well, and his basketball background complements that. If he plays with a lower pad level, especially on passing downs, there’s no telling how high his ceiling is. He already has an impressive frame, and he could become a Georgia Tech great with some seasoning.
LB Noah Renes
- Position: Linebacker
- Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 230 pounds
- HS/City/State: Niceville High School, Melbourne, Florida
- Pos./State/National Rank: 69/77/781
Noah Renes plays a lot like Crawford. He’s fast, agile, hits hard, and has some good covering skills, making him a fun linebacker to watch.
The stats back up his impact. In his junior season at Niceville, he had 64 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, five sacks, and two pass breakups. He had five games of at least nine tackles. His best game came against Mosely (FL), where he had 13 tackles, three tackles for loss, and a sack.
He has the speed and twitchiness to be a good run-stopper, and he also has the athleticism to line up at EDGE and blitz through there or the A-gap. Renes is also a solid open-field tackler, and he can hang with tight ends in coverage, where he usually makes a play on the ball with ease.
With Georgia Tech looking for long, physical linebackers, Renes fits the mold. He is a great middle linebacker/Mike type as well. With Renes, Crenshaw, and Crawford, Georgia has really honed in on improving the class through the linebacker core.
Georgia Tech Football Recruiting Status
The Yellow Jackets earned a pair of middle linebackers and a fun project offensive tackle in Braylin Mills. Georgia Tech has earned three linebacker commits and one offensive lineman commit in this class.
Time will tell if one of Crawford or Renes comes through as the MLB of the future. Regardless, Jason Semore should have a lot to work with in 2027.
