Even though we are fairly early on in the 2027 college football recruiting cycle, the UNLV Rebels are already on pace to have one of its most successful offseasons in recent history.
UNLV Football: Where do Rebels Stand in 2027 CFB Recruiting?
So far, UNLV has been able to land six new prospects for the 2027 recruiting cycle. There are three three-star recruits; the other three are no-stars. These recruits have landed UNLV 75th in the nation overall, and second in the Mountain West, just behind Fresno State. With months to go until signing day, the Rebels have already made very strong strides.
The list of recruits so far includes Luke Farrell, Phoenix Pollard, Max Bates, Kingston Williams, Cooper Cook and Kash Schwab.
By far, the biggest recruit UNLV has been able to land this offseason is Luke Farrell, a three-star quarterback from Tempe, Arizona. In 2025, Farrell would pass for 2020 yards, 12 passing touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He would also rush for 111 yards and four rushing touchdowns. Some may say he had a down year from his impressive 2024 season, where he would pass for 1,848 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns, and six interceptions. Even so, the Rebels have a star in the making if development goes smoothly.
When evaluating any team’s top prospect, it is important to look at the other teams that had offers on the table. Farrell had 10 offers from schools across the country, including some Power-4 schools, most notably Arizona, Kentucky, Minnesota, Ole Miss, and Washington. The fact that UNLV has been able to compete with schools from the Big Ten and SEC speaks volumes to the new era of Rebel football.
UNLV’s second-best prospect from the 2027 recruiting cycle is Phoenix Pollard, an offensive lineman from Henderson, Nevada, at Coronado High School. So far, Pollard is the only offensive lineman UNLV has been able to bring in. However, he definitely won’t be the last.
Other notable offers that Pollard had came from Boise State, California, and Utah.
The third-highest recruit UNLV has been able to land was Max Bates, a linebacker from Palos Verdes Peninsula, California. Once again, Bates is the only linebacker that UNLV has added this offseason.
Throughout Bates’ high school career, he has accumulated 144 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, a sack, two forced fumbles, and two interceptions. His ability to make plays in coverage while disrupting the run game could be an early indicator that he will be a contributor day one. From the tape, an early comparison could be drawn to Jackson Woodard, who won the 2024 Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year with UNLV.
Other notable schools that offered Bates include Arizona, Colorado and San Diego State.
In the 2026 recruiting cycle, UNLV ranked 68th in the nation. And, they were first in the Mountain West, right behind Boise State. Keep in mind that this was the first recruiting cycle under Dan Mullen and the best recruiting class in UNLV history. Fast forward to today, and UNLV is not far behind in replicating that same success. There are plenty of big-name prospects that have drawn serious interest, such as four-star Dakota Guerrant and four-star Lawrence Britt. With that in mind, while it’s still early, expect the UNLV football program to continue boosting their recruiting class as we head towards fall camp.
